The technical session focused on the importance of soil health assessment, balanced nutrient management, scientific crop production techniques, and the judicious use of agrochemicals. The discussion emphasised how effective soil management and appropriate agricultural practices contribute to improved crop productivity, resource conservation, and long-term agricultural sustainability.

“Healthy soils, scientific crop production and responsible agrochemical management are the foundations of sustainable agriculture and a productive future.”

Dr. Shankara M. H. highlighted the significance of understanding soil properties and adopting crop-specific production practices suited to the agricultural conditions of Karnataka. The session also underlined the need for responsible agrochemical management to maintain soil fertility, protect the environment, and support sustainable farming systems.

The programme provided students with an opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical field-level applications. It was particularly relevant to the subjects Principles of Soil Science and Agronomy and Basic Concepts and Applications of Agrochemicals, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the scientific principles that guide agricultural production and farm management.

The interactive session encouraged students to appreciate the role of agricultural engineering and scientific farming in addressing contemporary agricultural challenges. Such expert-led programmes strengthen industry–academia interaction and equip students with the knowledge required to contribute to the development of efficient, productive, and sustainable agricultural systems.

On behalf of the Chairman and Management Committee, Principal, faculty members, and students of Akshaya Institute of Technology, Tumakuru, the Department of Agricultural Engineering expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Shankara M. H. for sharing his knowledge and experience. The department also appreciates the faculty members and students for their active participation and cooperation in making the programme meaningful and successful.

Through such academic initiatives, AIT Tumakuru remains committed to promoting experiential learning, technical excellence, and sustainable agricultural development.
